On Wednesday 5th October 2016 Event Management Company Freshly Squeezed partnered with Knowledge Transfer Network, Kirwans Solicitors and Tech North to launch an Investment Readiness Workshop at our partner venue the Santander Incubator in Liverpool. The workshop was free to attend and designed for companies looking for early stage investment, with a maximum of 10 spaces available. The 46 businesses who applied were narrowed down through an application process.
The workshop was ran by Ian Tracey, Head of Access to Funding and Finance at Knowledge Transfer Network, with the due diligence advice delivered by James Pressley from Kirwans Solicitors. The first session covered the information required to approach investors including, how to sell your proposition, valuation, exit strategies and a pitch breakdown. There was then a week allowed for pitch practicing, before the second session, which gave attendees the opportunity to first pitch to the trainer, and then to a panel of investors and funding advisers for valuable feedback.
The event was designed after a need for this kind of training was identified across the Northern startup scene. This was reflected in the wide range of business types and geographical locations the workshop attracted. Ranging from Nottingham based Flux, who provide tampon and pad subscription boxes, to Manchester based Libralato, who are specialists in low carbon vehicle technologies.

Feedback following the event found that 100% of the delegates felt that what they learnt from the workshop would positively benefit them and their business going forward.
